About Us

How We Got Started

Terrace Acres is a unique 2.7ha property situated in Ashburton Canterbury.

We purchased this small farm in July 2020 as our first home. The property has established apple trees, stone fruit trees, raspberries, blueberries and strawberries. Two large commercial polytunnels have also been built which allow us to grow crops that require long hot summers as well as extending the season for fruit and vegetables traditionally grown in Canterbury. We are excited about developing the property to include permaculture and organic principles, historically Terrace Acres was used as a plant nursery and conventional market garden

About

Libby & Ryan

We both grew up in Southland on farms and met at Lincoln University where we studied agriculture. Our passion for growing food and a range of different plants lead us to purchase Terrace Acres. So far, it has been paradise, however, a big learning curve due to both of us having very limited experience in market gardening and horticulture- our garden before here was only a few square metres!

Now we both work full time in our respective agribusiness careers and manage to fit in a lot of gardening work in our spare time! We really love the property and realise it has been the at heart and soul of many families living here before us.

Come and visit so we can share it with you.
